I recently become enamoured with the idea of
getting as many magazine-worthy photos of the
over 2,500 African species that bejewel our continent.
In 2019 I challenged myself to photograph 1,001 of them.
Many are once-off vagrants; many are far out at sea; too many
are threatened, endangered, or critically rare; and far too many
are in areas that are often impossible to access.
1,001 seemed like a formidable yet attainable target.
